AIKEN, S.C. – A former substitute teacher in Aiken County Schools is facing charges of sexual battery following allegations of inappropriate conduct with a student.

Authorities have identified the suspect as 29-year-old Xavier Hamilton, who allegedly engaged in sexual activities with a student. The incident was initially reported to the authorities in August.

After conducting a thorough investigation that included multiple interviews, law enforcement officials issued arrest warrants for Hamilton on November 6th.

The Aiken County Schools district released a formal statement regarding the situation:

Aiken County Schools released the following statement:

Xavier Hamilton was employed by Kelly Services and served as a substitute teacher in our schools from May 16 through August 6, 2025. On August 1, a school principal reported concerns that he was not following directions. After consultation with District administration, it was determined that Mr. Hamilton would no longer be eligible to substitute, and his assignment was deactivated. Kelly Services terminated his employment on August 18. Law enforcement later notified our district of an investigation into allegations of inappropriate conduct involving a student. Both the District and Kelly Services have cooperated fully with law enforcement throughout the investigation. We remain steadfast in our commitment to rigorous background screening practices and immediate, appropriate action when concerns arise to help ensure safe, supportive learning environments for all students.

Merry Glenne Piccolino, Aiken Co. School System

He is charged with 2 counts of Sexual Battery with a Student.
