Searchlight Pictures takes viewers behind the scenes of director Martin McDonagh’s new political comedy, “Wild Horse Nine,” with praise from the filmmaker’s longtime collaborators. “I’ve been lucky enough to have worked with Martin three times. He’s one of the best directors of his generation,” Sam Rockwell says.
In the featurette, McDonagh describes “Wild Horse Nine” as the story of two friends who work for the CIA in 1973 before taking an unexpected side trip to Easter Island.
Steve Buscemi, who plays MJ, says the characters are what make McDonagh’s films so compelling. “Should you be rooting for them?” he asks about the drama’s complicated figures.
Rockwell, who portrays Lee, reflects on his third collaboration with McDonagh and calls him “one of the best directors of his generation.”
Parker Posey, who stars as Margie, shares that enthusiasm. “Watching him create a world, bring it to life and make something that will last is really, really fun,” she says.
The behind-the-scenes video also explores the use of local crew members and the production of “Wild Horse Nine” in Easter Island, a special territory of Chile. Watch the featurette below for more.
The cast of “Wild Horse Nine” also includes John Malkovich, Bastián Bodenhöfer, Mariana di Girolamo and others.
“Wild Horse Nine” opens exclusively in theaters Nov. 6.
