Danville School District Threat Deemed Non-Credible by Authorities: Safety Reassured

In Danville, Illinois, the local police department has determined that a threat directed at the Danville School District on Monday was not credible. Their investigation revealed no real danger to the community.

Earlier reports from WCIA stated that the school district received an alarming call from an unknown individual who ominously declared, “school shooting. 10 a.m.,” before abruptly disconnecting. This incident, occurring around 8 a.m., led to a precautionary soft lockdown across all district schools, and students were sent home for safety.

The Danville Police, working closely with the school district, swiftly launched an investigation. On Friday, Deputy Chief Doug Miller shared new details about the findings.

“Our investigative work confirmed there was no credible threat, as the call came from outside Danville,” Miller explained. “There was no immediate risk to students, staff, or the wider community. Throughout the investigation, we kept in constant contact with school officials. We took necessary safety precautions, and school operations have since returned to normal. Ensuring the safety of our students and community is paramount.”

Miller also informed WCIA that he could not disclose whether the caller had been identified or apprehended, as the investigation continues.
