Moultrie County EMA Announces Upcoming 'Active Threat' Training Session for First Responders

MOULTRIE COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Residents of Moultrie County are being informed about an upcoming “Active Threat Response” training exercise scheduled for this weekend. The county’s Emergency Management Agency (EMA) assures the public that there is no real threat involved.

On their Facebook page, Moultrie County EMA announced that the training will commence on Saturday, November 8, around 1 p.m., at the Hydro-Gear facility located in Sullivan. This comprehensive exercise is a collaborative effort between local first responders and Hydro-Gear.

In related news, authorities have confirmed that a threat directed at Danville School District has been deemed non-credible.

The purpose of this exercise is to evaluate the emergency response capabilities of law enforcement and emergency medical services (EMS). Officials noted that this simulation will provide an opportunity for first responders and command personnel to collaborate effectively, while also highlighting both their strengths and areas that may need improvement.

During the training, residents might observe emergency vehicles and hear alarms. The EMA has indicated that access to the Hydro-Gear facility and surrounding traffic may be temporarily restricted or rerouted for the safety and efficiency of the exercise.
