In a tragic turn of events in Missouri, a search for a person of interest led to a fatal shooting after two women allegedly provided misleading information to law enforcement. The incident has resulted in legal repercussions for Patty Armour, 51, and Lois Armour, 78, who are now facing charges of second-degree felony murder, as reported by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The two women had previously been arrested for allegedly obstructing law enforcement’s efforts to apprehend 57-year-old Charles Armour. Their interference reportedly complicated the investigation into a murder case in Ralls County, which is situated just east of the small town of Paris, Missouri.
On October 12, officers arrived at a residence in Paris, Missouri, acting on a lead connected to the ongoing murder investigation. Upon their arrival, Patty and Lois Armour greeted the officers and engaged in conversation with them.
Despite granting officers entry into the home, the women falsely claimed that Charles Armour was not present, according to documents reviewed by Law & Crime. Contrary to their assertions, authorities later determined that Charles was hiding in the master bathroom, armed with a handgun.
The search by law enforcement eventually led to the discovery of Charles Armour’s location, triggering a violent confrontation. This deadly encounter underscores the serious consequences of hindering police investigations, as the situation escalated into a shootout.
Officers went searching and eventually located him. That is when a shootout commenced.
Charles Armour fired his gun at officers, hitting one of them, the court documents state. This officer was brought to an area hospital for treatment and later released. The suspect himself was killed during the exchange of gunfire.
The women were arrested and held in jail on $50,000 — and then $100,000 bond on the hindering prosecution charges. Given the new murder charges against them, they are now being held without bond.
It is unclear what relation, if any, the women had to Charles Armour.
The women are scheduled to appear in Monroe County court on Wednesday.
