New Evidence Surfaces in Delphi Murders Case as Richard Allen Challenges Conviction

INDIANAPOLIS – A fresh wave of previously unseen evidence was introduced on Monday as Richard Allen seeks to overturn his conviction for the murders of Indiana teenagers Abby Williams and Libby German.

The young friends were tragically killed near a hiking path in Delphi back in 2017. The case remained unresolved until Allen’s arrest in 2022, with his conviction following a year later.

This new evidence has been submitted at the behest of Allen’s appellate lawyers, who assert it is crucial for advancing their appeal efforts.

In a related story, an accuser named Ashlee Buzzard claims her daughter Melodee may still be alive.

Allen’s defense strategy suffered a significant setback when Judge Fran Gull disallowed the introduction of evidence suggesting an alternative suspect during the trial. His legal team had intended to argue that the girls were victims of a ritualistic killing by followers of Odinism.

Judge Gull decided there was insufficient “nexus” or link between these alleged third-party suspects and the crime in question.

Many of the exhibits are posts made by a man named Brad Holder, who is a confirmed Odinist and was looked into by investigators. Holder’s son was a friend of Abby Williams.

Some of the exhibits include a photo of a large branch covering two people, which is similar to the layout of the crime scene.

Also included is a painting Holder did that resembles the way one of the girls’ bodies was posed and several posts of symbols made with sticks. Allen’s lawyers claim sticks at the crime scene were deliberately placed on the girls’ bodies to make Odinist symbols.

“Remember, they thought it was two people and they released sketches of two people, and they asked the entire nation to identify those two people, neither of whom was the eventual defendant,” Defense Attorney John Tompkins said.

Tompkins has followed the case closely and recently told affiliate WXIN that he believes challenging Gull’s decision to not allow any of that evidence will be the strongest argument for Allen’s appeal.

“The jury needs to understand this was not a single perpetrator theory, and this guy was not the first guy that you wanted to arrest,” Tompkins said.
