Staff Report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 15-year-old named De’Marion Terrell Robinson now faces adult charges for conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, linked to a gang-related shooting incident at The Grove at Sweetwater Preserve on March 16.

On the evening of March 16, around 8 p.m., officers from the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) responded to reports of gunfire at The Grove at Sweetwater Preserve, located at 125 SE 19th Place. Upon arrival, they discovered approximately 22 shell casings from both a rifle (.223/.556 caliber) and a 9mm pistol in front of a building. The bullets had struck at least three apartments and two vehicles, yet miraculously, the adults and young children inside narrowly escaped harm, with no injuries reported.

Security footage captured a white sedan entering the vicinity just before the gunshots rang out, and speeding away from the scene moments after the shooting occurred.

In connection with this incident, Laron Detron Murphy, 18, and Jordan Tyreek Welch, 19, had already been arrested on similar charges. Moreover, Malachi Ahmad Rosario, 18, and Johntavious Reshard Peterson, 16, are also linked to the case.

One of Robinson’s co-defendants identified him as an occupant of the white sedan that had been seen at The Grove during the incident.

A Gainesville Police Department Detective reported that there is evidence that the shooting was gang-related and that the co-defendants, who are reportedly “South” gang members, targeted a group of people who are “Bricks” gang members.

Post Miranda, Robinson reportedly admitted that he had been a passenger in the stolen white sedan but denied having any involvement in the shooting incident.

Robinson has been charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree murder. He has juvenile convictions in 2024 and 2025, and Judge David Kreider ordered him held without bail until trial.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
