Cloudflare, a leading internet infrastructure company, announced it is implementing a solution to address a widespread issue that has caused service disruptions for ChatGPT, the social media platform X, transit systems, and other major online platforms globally.
Earlier on Tuesday, Cloudflare reported on its status page that it had pinpointed a problem affecting numerous clients. Users across various services experienced extensive 500 error messages, with both the Cloudflare Dashboard and API encountering failures.
As part of the resolution process, Cloudflare temporarily suspended certain services for users in the United Kingdom.
“We have implemented changes that have allowed Cloudflare Access and WARP to recover. Error levels for Access and WARP users have returned to normal. We have reinstated WARP access in London,” the company stated on its status page. “Efforts to restore other services are ongoing.”
Several other services have been impacted, including Shopify, Dropbox, Coinbase, the online game League of Legends, Moody’s, and NJ Transit. Moody’s website, for instance, showed an Error Code 500, directing users to Cloudflare’s website for further details.
Based in San Francisco, Cloudflare is renowned for providing internet infrastructure that safeguards websites against online threats.
Last month Microsoft had to deploy a fix to address an outage of their Azure cloud portal that left users unable to access Office 365, Minecraft and other services. The tech company wrote on its Azure status page that a configuration change to its Azure infrastructure caused the outage.
And Amazon experienced a massive outage of its cloud computing service in October. The company resolved the issue, but the outage took down a broad range of online services, including social media, gaming, food delivery, streaming and financial platforms.
