Shawn Cirignano, aged 64, is currently detained in Clay County with a bond set at $1 million, following accusations of possessing over 2000 images depicting child sexual abuse.

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — A local resident from Middleburg faces ten felony charges after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office discovered thousands of images and videos involving child sexual exploitation in his possession.

The arrest of Shawn Owen Cirignano occurred on Wednesday, November 19, when the Clay County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team apprehended him at his residence on Quarterhorse Trail. This action followed a thorough investigation led by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit.

In September, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office received nine CyberTipline Reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The reports indicated that Google had identified over 2000 images linked to Cirignano’s email addresses and phone numbers as child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Currently, Cirignano is held in the Clay County jail, with his bond set at $1 million. Jail records from the Sheriff’s Office indicate that his next court appearance is scheduled for December 17.

The investigation was a collaborative effort, involving the Northeast Florida INTERCEPT Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact Detective Eva Solis at esolis@claysheriff.com or 904-264-6512.
