Staff Report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On the morning of November 20, Stacie Nicole Edwards, 29, was apprehended after allegedly breaking into a residence, vandalizing security cameras, and taking several items.

According to a Gainesville Police Department officer, the victim noticed Edwards inside her house via interior surveillance around 10:40 a.m. while she was not home. Edwards reportedly forced her way into the house and dismantled the cameras, hindering the victim’s ability to monitor her activities indoors. Surveillance footage allegedly captured Edwards exiting with a noticeably full plastic bag, which she did not possess upon entry.

After officers conducted a search of the premises, a BOLO (be on the lookout) alert was issued for Edwards. She was eventually located near the Wawa on NW 13th Street, wearing the same attire seen in the surveillance footage, though she no longer had the bag. Edwards purportedly fled at the sight of law enforcement, but was soon spotted by a detective in an unmarked vehicle in a neighborhood close to the burglarized home. Patrol units then arrived to arrest her.

During the arrest, a search allegedly uncovered three football trading cards belonging to the victim, 3.7 grams of marijuana, 1.8 grams of a substance identified as methamphetamine, and a “meth pipe.”

Edwards, whose current address is listed as GRACE Marketplace in recent legal documents, faces charges including burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, possession of a controlled substance, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft, and property damage. Her arrest history dates back to 2016, though she has only one felony conviction for a non-violent crime. In January, she was arrested for drug possession, and a burglary complaint was filed against her in September, both of which were later dismissed. She is also under a sworn complaint for grand theft related to a bicycle theft on the UF campus in July. Judge Jonathan Ramsey has set her bail at $30,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
