Sophie Delezio recently shared the emotional story of her son’s birth.

In September, Delezio and her husband, Joseph Salerno, welcomed their first child, a boy named Frankie.

The 24-year-old reflected on how her challenging past, marked by surviving two devastating car accidents as a child, influenced her experience of becoming a mother.

“PTSD manifests in ways that are often unexpected,” she explained to The Canberra Times, noting that it doesn’t always resemble what is portrayed in films.

“For me, it was confronting the environment of an operating theatre.”

She described the moment her son was born, saying, “With adrenaline coursing through me and Taylor Swift songs playing in the background, my son came into the world in a place I had always dreaded.”

Sophie went on to note that with the medical team’s care and kindness, as well as the support from her ‘beautiful’ husband, she managed to get through it.

In May, the inspiring Aussie turned to her large social media following for parenting advice, as the new mum admitted that her eight-month-old son cries throughout each day.

Sophie required an unplanned caesarean section to deliver Frankie and has been sharing glimpses into the highs and lows of motherhood in the months since.

In a video posted to her Instagram Story, she confessed to being in a state of ‘exhaustion’ and wanting answers as to how to find the energy to keep going.

‘To all the mums out there, how do you cope when you’re feeling run down and just a bit exhausted?’ Sophie asked.

‘How do you keep your child entertained?’

‘I have to provide top-tier entertainment,’ she added.

‘Otherwise, there are going to be many tears. And to be honest, probably from both of us. How?’

‘This is peak motherhood, where I just want to crawl up into my bed and watch Netflix all day,’ she continued with a sigh.

‘But no, the sun is shining and we’ve got to get on with the day.’

In previous responses to fan questions, Sophie has made several mentions of her son’s constant crying, calling it ‘heartbreaking.’

On a positive note, she told one fan that the best part about being a new mum is ‘seeing him discover the world for the first time. His obsession with trees. His love for walks. His smile.’

The worst is: ‘Guessing what they need when they cry. It’s so hard at first to figure out what each cry means and sometimes they just cry for no reason, and it breaks my heart’.

Australia rallied around Sophie when a car crashed through the window of her daycare centre in 2003 when she was two, trapping her underneath.

Burns covered 85 per cent of her body after the tragedy, which also took both of her feet, several fingers and her right ear.

Three years later, tragedy struck again when the five-year-old was hit by a car near her home in Sydney’s northern beaches while out with her nanny.

The impact threw her 18 metres out of her wheelchair, leaving her with a broken jaw, broken collarbone, nine broken ribs, punctured lungs, two fractured vertebrae and a brain injury.
