Oklahoma authorities remain engaged in an ongoing investigation following the unsettling discovery of a body within a hospital’s water tank last week.

On November 20, a body was retrieved from a water tank at the Integris Health Baptist Medical Center located in Oklahoma City. This unsettling find emerged during a routine inspection of the hospital’s water-cooling tower, as reported by The Oklahoman.

While police have stated that they are not treating the case as a homicide, the identity of the deceased, encompassing name, age, and gender, is yet to be disclosed.

Hospital representatives have assured that the water from this particular tower does not enter the hospital building. It remains confined within the tower and undergoes chemical treatment to maintain disinfection in a closed-loop system.

“This closed-loop chilled-water system is responsible for supplying clean, chemically treated water to air handlers and fan coils within the buildings,” officials clarified in a statement to The Oklahoman. “The chilled water loop merely transfers heat via heat exchangers at the cooling tower to cool the building, without mixing with the water in the cooling tower.”

According to reports from KFOR, investigators have reason to believe that the body had been in the water tank for a considerable duration prior to its discovery. There is currently no suspicion of foul play involved.

A medical examiner will determine the cause of death in this case. This can take several weeks if coroners need to conduct additional testing.
