In a candid moment with News Corp back in 2022, Haydon recounted how she initiated contact with Albanese, saying, “I slid into his DMs.” What began as a simple message exchange on Twitter soon blossomed into a romance, with their first dates taking place over craft beers at a Newtown brewery in Sydney.
Haydon has since been by Albanese’s side on numerous occasions, including official trips abroad, notably to the United Kingdom.
Their relationship took a significant turn following Albanese’s serious car accident in 2021. The incident, as Haydon shared, solidified her feelings for him.
In a romantic gesture, Albanese proposed with a custom-designed ring after a delightful dinner at an Italian restaurant in Braddon, Canberra, marking a new chapter in their journey together.

“We are thrilled and excited to share this news and look forward to spending the rest of our lives together,” the couple said in a statement.
“We did think about it, I’ve got to say, on the anniversary, really quietly, just doing it to stop speculation,” Albanese told B105 Brisbane in March.
