Hanson addresses immigration rally in Melbourne

Pauline Hanson, the leader of One Nation, recently led an anti-immigration protest, calling for a national dialogue on identity and values. This comes as the Coalition is set to announce a new policy.

The upcoming policy is expected to focus on reducing immigration numbers and encouraging settlement in regional areas.

Hanson emphasized that discussions should include stricter English language requirements and moral assessments as part of the broader conversation on immigration.

According to the latest Redbridge/Accent poll conducted for the Financial Review, Labor currently outranks the Coalition when it comes to handling immigration issues, but both are significantly trailing behind One Nation.

The Nationals are advocating for increased authority over the settlement locations of migrants and visa holders, aiming to direct more individuals, especially skilled tradespeople, to regional parts of Australia.

David Littleproud commented, “Simply adding more people to Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane is not the solution; it’s affecting your lives and diminishing your children’s future prospects.”

Labor Trade Minister Don Farrell last week urged the Coalition not to pursue immigration cuts.

“Immigration is important for the future of this country,” he told Sky News.

“It should be a bipartisan issue. For the most of the history of this country, immigration has been a bipartisan issue.

“I’d much prefer it to be the government and the opposition sitting down, working out what is the best way to go forward in the immigration space.”
