Feeding Tampa Bay leans in to help during ‘Kindness Day’

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — As the holiday season unfolds, the spirit of giving takes center stage. WFLA Kindness Day highlights this ethos by rallying support for several remarkable charities within our community.

Among these, Feeding Tampa Bay stands out for its exceptional contributions to fighting hunger locally.

“Our collaboration with the station has been phenomenal. It’s astounding to think about the sheer volume of food we’ve gathered,” expressed Thomas Mantz, CEO of Feeding Tampa Bay.

Join our donation drive on Friday, Dec. 5, running from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. right outside our station, where contributions of any size are welcome and impactful.

“Kindness Day represents generosity to us,” Mantz added.

For families facing hardship, access to these resources is transformative. In response to challenges like the recent government shutdown, Feeding Tampa Bay has stepped up its efforts to support the community.

“Challenges in our neighbors’ homes are greater today than they were a year ago, two years ago, even five years ago,” said Mantz.

Mantz says getting involved and connected with our neighbors, especially on Kindness Day makes it easier to cover more needs that may be overlooked.

“Let’s be kind to each other. Let’s make sure we look after each other. You know, make your community better for you being in it,” said Mantz.
