Authorities have issued a warning to avoid approaching Aljowan Jones, the suspect in an armed robbery case.
LAKE CITY, Fla. — The Lake City Police Department has announced that the individual suspected in an armed robbery remains at large. This update was provided shortly before 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. on December 2, officers were dispatched to a Dollar General located on NE Bascom Norris Drive following reports of an active robbery. Upon their arrival, officers discovered that the suspect had already fled the scene, with no injuries reported during the incident.
Investigations identified Aljowan Jones as the suspect, who allegedly took an item from the store without payment. As he exited, accompanied by another individual, a store employee pursued them. It was then that Jones reportedly brandished a handgun and issued threats against the employee and others present.
Jones remains elusive, and police caution that he is considered armed and dangerous, urging the public not to engage with him.
Chief of Police Gerald Butler expressed relief that no physical harm occurred. “The use of a firearm to intimidate our community is a grave matter,” he stated. “We are committed to collaborating with community partners and the State Attorney’s Office to ensure those who wield weapons in our businesses face justice.”
Any information regarding Jones should be sent to the Lake City Police Department by calling 386-752-4343 or report information anonymously through the LCPD TIPS line at (386) 719-2068 or Crime Stoppers of Columbia County at (386) 754-7099
