Exciting news for drone enthusiasts: a new $1,599 drone and headset package offers an experience unlike any other on the market today, standing out as more than just an alternative to DJI’s offerings.

As previously discussed in August and demonstrated in my video, this innovative 8K drone shifts the focus from traditional flying or aerial photography. It’s crafted to eliminate the hassle of piloting and filming, allowing users to enjoy the journey without the complexities.

Equipped with a 360-degree camera and motion-responsive goggles, this drone lets users navigate by merely turning their head. Inside the headset, a simple line can be directed with your arm to choose your path. A quick trigger pull sends the drone flying to your chosen destination, while your gaze remains free to explore the surroundings. The unique feature of recording in all directions at once means you can adjust angles and zooms in your footage after the fact.

Priced at $1,599, and up to $1,999 for a deluxe package with extra batteries and accessories from Best Buy, this drone might seem steep compared to others offering superior traditional footage quality. However, the experience it offers is unparalleled.

In an initial test flight, the Antigravity A1 demonstrated similar weight, folding capability, and flight style to a DJI Mini, despite its price tag being closer to that of DJI’s higher-end Mavic or Air models when they were widely available in the U.S.

What’s unique about this drone is its inclusion of a 360-degree camera system with goggles that prioritize ease of flight and filming. Not even DJI’s prosumer drones offer this setup. However, DJI might soon catch up with their upcoming Avata 360, which recently received FCC approval. This could potentially enter the U.S. market before any further restrictions on DJI products are enacted.

The Avata 360 might be a different beast than the Antigravity A1, though. While the A1 is a beginner-friendly Mini-style drone that gently flies around, and is light enough that it shouldn’t need registration, DJI’s Avata line has been heavier cinewhoop-style FPV drones designed for swooping and soaring at high speed.
