In a chilling case from Texas, Cynthia Ming, 54, has admitted to the murder of her neighbor, Angie Melissa Moore, during a traumatic home invasion that she claims to have no recollection of. This confession has brought closure to a grim event that unfolded on September 7, 2022, in Lacy Lakeview.

Initially facing charges of capital murder, Ming’s plea comes after the tragic incident where Moore, aged 45, was shot in her own home. The ordeal began when Moore called 911, reporting that Ming was attempting to break in through a window. By the time authorities arrived, Moore had been fatally shot in the head, and Ming was discovered escaping the scene, naked and covered in blood.

Court documents reveal a shocking narrative. While in custody, Ming told officers that she seized a gun from Moore and shot her, driven by the belief that Moore had killed her dog. In a further disturbing twist reported by local CBS affiliate KWTX, Ming allegedly stated that she “then drank her blood.”

The night of the murder, Ming spoke to Dr. Lee Carter, explaining that she had experienced an electrocution from a live wire at her residence, which left her in a disoriented state. She recounted to Carter that the last thing she remembered was the light fixture in her home, before finding herself speaking to police about actions she couldn’t recall.

Dr. Carter diagnosed Ming with borderline personality disorder, histrionic personality disorder, and schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type. Despite these diagnoses, Ming was deemed sane at the time of the murder.

Initially, Ming pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity but later changed her plea to guilty. She has agreed to a 50-year prison sentence with the possibility of parole after 25 years. During Monday’s court proceedings, prosecutors expressed skepticism about Ming’s chances for parole, given the severity of her crime.

Prosecutors Duncan Widmann and Luke McCowan said in a statement obtained by KWTX, “Since Ming will almost certainly never leave prison, this plea agreement achieves the same outcome a conviction for capital murder would have, while eliminating the risks associated with the trial and appeals processes. Those risks often increase in cases involving claims of insanity.”

Moore’s family was in the courtroom for the sentencing, including Moore’s parents, who read words from a song written by her 16-year-old son, Connor. Moore’s mother read, “She was Satan’s puppet, and she is going to hell if she doesn’t ask God for forgiveness for her sins … She shed my mother’s innocent blood… One day it will be worse for her when she stands before my almighty God.”

Moore’s mother told the court that her daughter endured years of “aggressive, demonic harassing” at Ming’s hands. She called Ming “a force of pure evil that lived across the street.”
