Bronx Resident Faces Court Over Shooting Incident Involving Jets Player Kris Boyd

NEW YORK – A Bronx resident, Frederick Green, has found himself at the center of a high-profile legal battle after being charged with the shooting of New York Jets player Kris Boyd. The dramatic case unfolded in a New York City courtroom late Tuesday, following Green’s capture in the Buffalo area.

Green, aged 20, stood before the court to face serious allegations, including attempted murder in connection with the incident that took place on November 16. The shooting occurred outside a bustling midtown Manhattan restaurant. Boyd, who was critically injured, has thankfully been on the mend since the unfortunate event.

During the proceedings, Green entered a plea of not guilty. Despite the gravity of the charges, his attorney has remained tight-lipped, declining to comment on the case. Consequently, Green is currently being held without bail.

The events leading to the shooting began in the early hours, just after 2 a.m., as Boyd and fellow Jets players, Irvin Charles and Jamien Sherwood, were enjoying a night out. According to court records, a group of men mocked the players’ attire, sparking an altercation.

Surveillance footage captured Green entering the restaurant around 12:30 a.m., then exiting and donning a mask shortly before the shooting. He was later spotted in Harlem, but authorities believe he quickly fled the city, initiating a manhunt spearheaded by the U.S. Marshals Service.

After an intensive search, law enforcement finally located Green on Monday at an apartment complex near the University of Buffalo. With officers and a canine unit in place, Green eventually surrendered. Officials noted that he had changed his appearance significantly, likely in an attempt to evade capture.

Boyd was hospitalized after the shooting, but a few weeks later visited the Jets’ facility, surprising teammates and attending a special teams meeting.

The Jets signed Boyd earlier this year, but he was injured during a practice this summer and has not yet played for the team. He played his first four seasons in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings and signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2023 before joining Houston’s practice squad later that season.
