Actress Amanda Seyfried Will 'Not F**king Apologize' for Calling Charlie Kirk Hateful After His Assassination

Actress Amanda Seyfried has made it clear that she stands by her comments regarding conservative activist Charlie Kirk, following his assassination. Seyfried, known for her role in Mean Girls, took to Instagram to express her views shortly after Kirk’s death, describing it as “disturbing and deplorable” despite her belief that his activism promoted hateful rhetoric.

“I want to clarify my comments, which were taken out of context,” Seyfried remarked at the time. “It’s important to have spirited discourse. Isn’t that what we should strive for?”

Seyfried further emphasized the importance of recognizing human complexity. “We must not lose sight of our humanity,” she stated. “I can be upset about misogyny and racism while also acknowledging that Charlie Kirk’s murder was deeply troubling and unacceptable. No one should endure such violence. Our nation is mourning too many senseless deaths and shootings. Can we at least agree on that?”

In a recent interview with Who What Wear, as part of her promotional efforts for The Testament of Ann Lee, Seyfried reiterated her position.

“I’m not going to apologize for my comments,” she asserted. “I spoke about something based on reality, footage, and actual quotes. What I expressed was factual, and I have the right to my opinion. Instagram allowed me to reclaim my voice after it was misconstrued, which is something that often happens.”

“I’m not fucking apologizing for that,” Seyfried said. “I mean, for fuck’s sake, I commented on one thing. I said something that was based on actual reality and actual footage and actual quotes. What I said was pretty damn factual, and I’m free to have an opinion, of course. Thank God for Instagram. I was able to give some clarity, and it was about getting my voice back because I felt like it had been stolen and recontextualized—which is what people do, of course.”

Charlie Kirk, 31, was gunned down while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University on September 10. He is survived by his wife Erika and two children. The alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, reportedly decided to kill Kirk because he “had enough of his hatred.”
