Drugs allegedly bound for Schoolies celebrations are among a $170,000 haul seized by police in a two-month-period in Victoria.

In an extensive crackdown that spanned from late September to the end of November, police on the Mornington Peninsula have taken decisive action against drug-related activities, resulting in the arrest of nine individuals. This operation also led to the seizure of a significant quantity of illegal substances.

The police executed search warrants in several locations, including Capel Sound, Carrum Downs, Dromana, Frankston South, Mornington, Rosebud, and Rye. These efforts were part of a broader initiative to curb the distribution of drugs in the area.

Authorities allege that some of the confiscated substances—such as cocaine, ketamine, MDMA, GHB, methamphetamine, and cannabis—were intended for sale during the Schoolies celebrations on the peninsula. This annual event is known for attracting large crowds of young school leavers.

Among those apprehended was a 24-year-old man from Dromana, who was taken into custody on November 18. The arrest occurred at a residence on Beach Street, where police reportedly discovered cocaine valued at $70,000 and several MDMA pills.

It is alleged that this individual planned to distribute the drugs to young revellers marking the end of their school year. Consequently, he faces serious charges, including trafficking and possession of ecstasy.

He was charged with trafficking and ecstasy possession.

Two men, aged 25 and 55, were arrested at a Rye home on October 23, after police allegedly seized drugs including cocaine, GHB, meth, ketamine, cannabis, and ecstasy, along with four fake guns, a machete, and cash.

The 25-year-old was charged with weapon and trafficking offences and the older man was charged with cultivating a commercial cannabis crop. They remain before the courts.

A 45-year-old man was charged with trafficking meth in Carrum Downs and has a warrant out for his arrest after he failed to appear in court.

Two men, aged 23 and 26, were arrested in Frankston South and charged with trafficking cocaine and possessing a fake gun. They will next appear in court in the new year.

A 45-year-old man was charged after an alleged cannabis crop house was dismantled on York Street, Rosebud.

And a 56-year-old Mornington woman was charged and issued a caution for alleged cannabis possession.
