A dispute over a $15 broken fingernail repair allegedly escalated into gunfire at a Phoenix nail salon, where police say an Arizona woman opened fire while nearly 20 people were inside.

Essence Mire, 26, has been charged with aggravated assault, discharging a firearm at a nonresidence, discharging a firearm within city limits and assault in connection with the alleged incident.

According to police, Mire left the salon after the shooting but was later taken into custody at her Maricopa County home near Interstate 17 and Northern Avenue. Investigators say she admitted punching an employee in the face and firing at the business because she wanted to frighten workers into fixing her manicure for free.

Mire was being held this week on a $100,000 bond.
