Rabbi Yanky Super using his emergency services radio

During the Bondi terror attack, volunteers from the Jewish emergency service group Hatzolah were among the first responders on the scene.

Rabbi Yanky Super was present as a medic at the Hanukkah celebration on Sunday when he found himself caught in the crossfire.

The rabbi is currently hospitalized, having narrowly escaped a fatal outcome thanks to a walkie-talkie-style radio that deflected a bullet that could have been deadly.

Witness Davey recounted to 9News, “I saw two men struggling in the water and unable to get back in, so I grabbed my board and went out, even as shots were still being fired.”

Lifeguard Daniel McLaughlin commended both his team and bystanders for their swift and courageous actions during the chaos.

He told 9News, “Every victim and patient on the ground had people around them trying their absolute best to offer assistance.”
