The Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) condemned the group that allegedly inspired the attack, labeling the self-styled Islamic State as “a malevolent and perilous terrorist organization whose actions and ideology are in stark contradiction to the teachings of Islam and the core values cherished by Muslims globally.”
“We’ll continue to work with the community to do what we can to stamp [it] out. We want to eradicate antisemitism — that is the objective here,” he told ABC radio.
