A man wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing in Brunswick has been apprehended, the Brunswick Police Department confirmed. The suspect, 28-year-old John Howard, was discovered concealed in the trunk of a vehicle during a routine traffic stop in Camden County.

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — Two days after a fatal incident, authorities successfully captured the suspect linked to a deadly stabbing in Brunswick. The Brunswick Police Department reported the arrest following a collaborative effort among various local law enforcement agencies.

Officers responded to an emergency call at approximately 4:46 p.m. on Monday, December 15, on the 2000 block of Gloucester Street. The victim, 57-year-old Ronald Carswell, was quickly transported to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

John Thomas Howard, identified as the primary suspect, was taken into custody Wednesday evening. Police discovered him hiding in the trunk of a car during a traffic stop conducted in Camden County.

The driver of the vehicle, 49-year-old Regina Alvin from Texas, was also arrested. She faces charges for allegedly assisting Howard in evading law enforcement.

Howard is now facing charges of murder and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime, according to the Brunswick Police Department.

Howard and Alvin are being held in the custody of the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office.

“We sincerely thank our law enforcement partners for their invaluable assistance and continued partnership in keeping our communities safe,” wrote the police department in the arrest announcement.

The criminal investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact Detective Melissa Howell at (912) 279-2606 or Silent Witness at (912) 267-5516.
