A 49-year-old man from Aldinga has been taken into custody after voluntarily appearing at a local police station. Following his arrest, he was transported to a hospital via ambulance.
In an effort to preserve any potential evidence, police officers cuffed his hands and placed them inside paper bags.
The individual now faces murder charges and has been denied bail. Authorities have indicated that this was not a random act, as the suspect and the victim were known to each other.
Throughout yesterday, investigators were actively working at the scene, drawing attention from residents in the area who noted the significant police activity.
Police believe the incident was not random and the two men are known to each other.
Investigators were on the scene for much of yesterday, with park residents noticing the police presence.
“[It’s] busy,” one woman said.
“Cars, detectives, police officers, much bigger than I expected it to be.”
The 49-year-old man will appear at Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.
