LOS ANGELES — A gripping surveillance video captures a dramatic scene as a mother from Los Angeles boldly collided her Mercedes-Benz with the getaway car belonging to a suspected burglary group.
The attempted break-in occurred on a Saturday afternoon at the family’s residence.
The mother, who has chosen to remain anonymous, mentioned that she had stepped out briefly to grab a coffee, leaving her young children and their grandmother at home.
She had barely left when a frantic call from the grandmother alerted her to the presence of intruders on their property. The commotion inside the house frightened the burglars, causing them to flee.
Reacting swiftly, the mother executed a rapid U-turn in her Mercedes, racing back just in time to smash into the suspects’ parked sedan before they could escape.
Footage reveals the moment the Mercedes sideswiped the sedan and mounted the curb, prompting the three suspects to scatter from the scene.
Tire tracks at the scene show where the luxury SUV careened across the street before slamming into a neighbor’s wall.
Los Angeles police searched the suspects’ car and found a wallet with a driver’s license, a red crowbar and a walkie talkie tuned to the LAPD’s radio scanner.
As of late Monday, no one is in custody.
