The Department of Justice issued a statement on social media platform X, cautioning that a document’s release by their agency does not inherently validate its contents. This statement was prompted by the circulation of a questionable letter among newly released records tied to Epstein.
In a document revealed on Tuesday, it was noted that back in 2020, the FBI had requested its lab to conduct a handwriting analysis to scrutinize the letter against Epstein’s known writings. Although the DOJ’s recent statement confirmed the letter’s inauthenticity, it did not clarify whether this conclusion stemmed directly from the 2020 forensic examination.
Nassar, the longtime doctor for the USA gymnastics team and Michigan State University, is serving a 60-year sentence in federal prison on child pornography charges. More than 150 women and girls publicly told a court he sexually abused them.
The envelope, addressed to Larry Nassar at 9300 S. Wilmot Road, Tucson, Arizona, 85756, a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility, was marked as “return to sender,” as the addressee was “no longer at this address.”
