The young members of the Royal Family couldn’t contain their joy today as they received an array of gifts from admirers during their traditional Christmas walkabout at Sandringham.

Charming photographs captured a beaming Prince George holding a cuddly toy, with his younger sibling, Prince Louis, by his side. Meanwhile, Princess Charlotte was seen eagerly reaching out to accept a present.

The royal estate became a gathering spot for numerous fans, all hoping to catch a glimpse of the young royals as they strolled along their route.

The Princess of Wales warmed hearts with a gentle smile for her daughter, while Queen Camilla and other senior members of the royal family greeted the enthusiastic crowd with waves.

A crowd of about 500 admirers watched the royal proceedings, with some having waited for hours to secure a good spot.

Among the tokens of affection were Christmas selection boxes, plush toys, and beautiful flower bouquets, all eagerly offered by the well-wishers.

Gemma Clark, 45, from Long Sutton, Lincolnshire, told the Daily Mail how she had gifted Prince Charlotte a pink flamingo toy during a previous Christmas visit to Sandringham – and that the young royal had remembered the gesture.

Her father, Paul Clark, 75, added: ‘We come here a lot although we missed it last year as I was ill.

‘I asked Charlotte if she remembered the flamingo and she said she did.’

He said the family had bought the toy for £3 from a local Spar shop but decided to give it to Charlotte, then aged four, after noticing her looking fondly at the toy as she walked into church in 2019.

The Princess could be seen walking around the estate with a bouquet of bright red flowers clutched in her hand.

Meanwhile, other photos showed her younger brother armed with a generous selection of presents including various sweet treats and a blue stuffed toy.

Wheelchair-bound Maureen Pitt, 90, travelled to see the Royals from Wolverhampton, West Midlands, with her daughter Vanessa Pitt, who acts as her carer.

The widow came with four selection boxes for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as well as Zara and Mike Tindall’s daughter Mia, but said: ‘I told William not to let them have them until later because they’ve probably had enough chocolate already this morning.

‘He was lovely, just so ordinary – he’s just like his mother. He asked me my name and I gave him the chocolate.

‘Kate and the children were lovely too.’

The mother-and-daughter are on a five-day break in Norfolk and have booked a Christmas dinner at the pub beside the Travelodge where they are staying in nearby King’s Lynn.

Vanessa added: ‘It’s our first time coming – we were lucky to get such a good spot.’

In what might have been one of the most adorable moments from the day, Prince Louis could be seen clutching a huge red Lindor chocolate, given to him by another member of the crowd.

He eyed up the sweet gleefully while his father watched on.

Other photos had captured the moment Charlotte and Louis took it upon themselves to say hello to the well-wishers – with their big brother George just a few steps behind.

Among those not attending this year were Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, who were told they were not welcome at celebrations after a drip-feed of revelations about their involvement with paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

It marked the second year running that the King’s brother and his ex-wife had not turned up. Last year, they pulled out of the celebrations just 10 days before Christmas after Andrew’s links to alleged Chinese spy, Yang Tengbo, came to light.

Despite this, the pair’s children – Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie – made surprise appearances.

Two attendees, Hilary Marsh, 73, and her husband Brian, 77, said it was only right that both of them were there to celebrate festivities.

Mrs Marsh, from Burwell, Cambridgeshire, said: ‘Beatrice and Eugenie are marvellous girls.

‘They’ve done nothing wrong and it must be quite hard for them with everything that’s going on.’

She added that it was ‘marvellous’ to see the King looking well and had gifted the Prince and Princess of Wales’ children boxes of chocolate.

‘The children were very polite and courteous,’ she continued, ‘They’re an absolute credit to them.’

Other family members seen on the walk included the King’s other brother Prince Edward with his wife Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, son James Viscount Severn, 17, and daughter Lady Louise, 22.

Meanwhile Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence were on the guest list, alongside daughter Zara and son-in-law Mike Tindall and their three children Mia, 11, Lena, seven, and Lucas, four.
