Framework, a company known for its modular PCs, is once again revising the pricing of its DDR5 RAM modules due to the ongoing rise in memory costs. In a recent announcement, the company stated that the new pricing structure would be $10 per gigabyte for 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB modules, with slightly elevated costs for modules starting at 48GB.
Earlier this month, Framework revealed an initial price adjustment for its memory, attributing the change to “substantially higher costs” from suppliers and distributors. With the latest adjustments, the price for an 8GB module has increased from $60 to $80, the 16GB module now costs $160, up from $120, and the 32GB module has risen from $240 to $320. Notably, the 48GB option has seen a dramatic increase, skyrocketing from $240 in June 2025 to $620. Additionally, the 64GB (2 x 32GB) and 96GB (2 x 48GB) modules have also become pricier, now costing $640 and $1,240, respectively.
This price shift impacts the customizable memory options available with Framework’s DIY Edition laptop, as the company continues to refrain from selling individual DDR5 RAM modules to maintain its stock levels. To mitigate the cost impact on its DIY Edition laptop, Framework suggests customers can purchase the laptop without included memory, offering the flexibility to use existing modules or seek more affordable alternatives through PCPartPicker, a resource linked directly on Framework’s website.
Framework anticipates that this won’t be the final adjustment, as suppliers predict that “prices will continue to increase going into early 2026,” according to their statement. The company notes, “We have absorbed and continue to absorb some of the price increases to be able to offer this new pricing, but it is very likely we’ll need to adjust module prices again within the next month.” Framework assures customers that any price increases will strictly reflect cost changes, with the intention to lower prices once costs decrease in the future.
