GameSir has long been at the forefront of innovative controller designs, frequently experimenting with features that set its products apart. A notable example is the Tarantula Pro, which can automatically adjust its face button labels for different layouts. Equally intriguing is the Pocket 1, which attaches Game Boy-style controls to your smartphone. Now, GameSir is making waves again with the introduction of the Swift Drive controller, distinguished by a small steering wheel positioned prominently in the gamepad’s center. This steering wheel is linked to what GameSir touts as the “world’s smallest direct drive motor,” providing immersive force feedback effects tailored for racing game enthusiasts.
While pricing and launch details remain under wraps, GameSir has already unveiled a host of features for the Swift Drive. The steering wheel is equipped with a “high-precision” Hall effect encoder boasting “up to 65,000 levels of resolution,” ensuring exceptional steering accuracy. Users can adjust the wheel’s movement within a range of 30 to 1080 degrees of rotation, and it can be swapped out for other styles as desired. The entire setup benefits from Hall effect sensors integrated into the joysticks and buttons, with the triggers further enhanced by individual haptic motors designed to replicate the sensations of ABS braking and wheel slippage.
Connectivity for the Swift Drive is maintained through a 2.4GHz wireless link to your gaming setup, and despite its array of reactive RGB lighting and haptic features, the controller offers a respectable battery life of 20 to 30 hours per charge.
For those racing simulation aficionados who prioritize a more traditional experience over portability, GameSir has also introduced the Turbo Drive. This setup includes a classic steering wheel and pedal arrangement complete with a yoke-style wheel that attaches securely to a desk. Like its smaller counterpart, the Turbo Drive employs 2.4GHz wireless connectivity and incorporates Hall effect sensors in its wheel’s encoder, along with throttle controls and shifting paddles. The system offers extensive customization options, including adjustable wheel rotation limits. Perhaps its most standout feature is an integrated turbine fan that simulates airflow to heighten the sensation of speed. With the fan operational, the Turbo Drive’s battery life is projected at 15 hours, but this extends to as much as 50 hours with the fan switched off.
