A man from Wisconsin, facing serious allegations of fatally stabbing his 8-year-old adoptive sister in 2024, was back in court this past Monday for a crucial competency hearing. The court has decided that he will stand trial next year.

This marked the third such assessment for Dayveon Lathrop following the tragic events of March 9, 2024. On that day, the young girl’s father returned from errands to find her missing. According to WMTV, Lathrop had previously been deemed incompetent during a July hearing.

Upon questioning, Lathrop, who was 20 years old at the time, chillingly informed the father that the girl was dead but offered no further details, as reported by WMTV at the time.

During the investigation, authorities discovered two knives in the basement shower and later found the young girl’s body hidden in a tote in the laundry room. The girl had suffered multiple stab wounds.

Following the recent court proceedings, Lathrop is now set to face trial in July, charged with first-degree intentional homicide and concealing a corpse.
