Sheriff Reports: Woman Assaulted After Suspect Forces Entry into Her Brevard Residence

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities in Brevard County have apprehended a suspect following a woman’s report of a sexual assault earlier this week, as stated by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

According to officials, the incident occurred on Monday when they received an urgent call about a woman desperately seeking assistance, pounding on a neighbor’s door.

The sheriff’s office revealed that the victim recounted noticing a man lingering in the vicinity while she was in the process of moving out. On the day of the attack, the man allegedly forced his way into her apartment, threatening her with a knife, and assaulted her.

After the attack, the suspect fled the scene, reportedly taking the victim’s phone and car keys, as per the deputies’ report.

Fortunately, the victim was able to provide a detailed description, and surveillance footage from the area helped identify the suspect as Kelvin Johnson.

By Wednesday, the BCSO’s GAMEOVER Task Force successfully located and arrested Johnson, according to the sheriff’s office.

“There’s absolutely nothing anyone can say in this situation to make sense of why anyone would do something this evil and vile!” Brevard Sheriff Wayne Ivey said. “My heart breaks for this victim, and we will do everything we can to help her through this time while keeping her perpetrator locked up so he can never victimize anyone else!”

Johnson now faces charges of sexual battery, home invasion robbery, aggravated assault, and violation of probation.
