LI man accused of kidnapping 11-year-old Queens girl he met on Discord

A man from Long Island is facing serious charges for allegedly kidnapping an 11-year-old girl from Queens after engaging in conversations with her through the messaging platform Discord, prosecutors revealed on Friday.

The suspect, 28-year-old Nicholas Wieber from Bay Shore, reportedly began communicating with the young girl via the popular app in early December 2025. According to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, their exchanges quickly took on a sexual tone.

Discord is widely used by children and teenagers for communication, often described as a “group chat that’s all fun and games” and is popular for socializing and gaming.

Prosecutors stated that on December 12, the girl attended her school in Queens but did not return home by bus at the usual time. Her mother, who was waiting at the bus stop, was alarmed by her absence.

Concerned about her daughter’s safety, the mother reached out to her friends, only to discover that an older male had picked her up from school. This prompted her to contact the New York Police Department, which immediately initiated a search for the missing girl.

The investigation quickly progressed, and by the evening of December 13, NYPD detectives had collaborated with the Suffolk County Police Department. Their efforts led them to Wieber’s home in Bay Shore, where he was apprehended.

Suffolk police then responded to the scene and allegedly found the girl “in a state of undress in Wieber’s bed,” prosecutors said. The child was safely reunited with her family, and Wieber was taken into custody. He was later indicted on kidnapping and related charges.

On Friday, Wieber was arraigned before Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro on charges of first- and second-degree kidnapping, both of which are felonies, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

He’s being held on $500,000 bond and is due back in court on Feb. 17. He faces 25 years to life if convicted on the top count.

His attorney, Larry Flowers, didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment Friday afternoon.
