Staff Report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Mir Agha Aseel, aged 66, has been handed a life sentence after being found guilty by a jury last November on charges of sexually battering a minor between 12 and 18 years old, alongside charges of lewd and lascivious molestation.

Aseel was initially taken into custody on November 17, 2021, following allegations brought forward by one of the victims who confided in an adult. This disclosure led to interviews conducted by a School Resource Officer and a Department of Children and Families investigator. During interviews with the Child Protection Team, both victims recounted incidents where Aseel’s inappropriate touch made them uncomfortable. One victim indicated that the abuse had persisted over several years, while the other described it as a long-term issue. Investigators concluded that at least two of these incidents involved sexual battery, with others qualifying as lewd and lascivious acts.

On November 6, 2025, Aseel was found guilty on all charges by an Alachua County jury. Today, Judge David Kreider imposed a sentence of two concurrent life terms for the sexual battery charges, alongside two concurrent 15-year terms for the molestation charges. Additionally, Aseel has been officially labeled as a Sexual Predator.
