‘Home Alone’ star Daniel Stern charged with soliciting prostitution

Daniel Stern, famously known for his role in “Home Alone,” faces charges related to an alleged attempt to solicit prostitution during the holiday season. This follows what initially seemed like a trivial citation.

The 68-year-old actor, also recognized for his work on “The Wonder Years,” was charged after his case was presented to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office late on Friday. TMZ was informed by a DA’s office spokesperson that the charges were officially filed shortly thereafter.

The news outlet initially reported on Friday about the incident, which occurred on December 10. Stern was cited for allegedly seeking the services of an escort at a hotel in Camarillo, a town situated approximately 21 miles west of Simi Valley. At that time, no formal arrest was made.

According to a representative from the DA’s Office, it is unlikely that Stern will attend his arraignment scheduled for Tuesday. His plea remains undisclosed.

The Daily News has reached out to both Stern’s attorney and the Ventura County District Attorney for further details.

Stern’s year ended on a difficult note, as the citation followed a reported medical incident at his residence on October 7. Although specifics are scant, the Ventura County Fire Department confirmed to TMZ that Stern was taken to a local hospital at the time.

Stern’s rep at the time told the outlet that the actor — now a farmer and sculptor — was recovering.

In early December, People published an interview with the self-described “homebody,” who, rather than take part in the in-person events commemorating the 35th anniversary of “Home Alone,” said, “I don’t leave my farm.”

That said, Stern shared he was game to pay tribute to the holiday classic — in which he plays ditzy thief Marv, opposite fellow Wet Bandit Harry (Joe Pesci) — via “a phone call, Zoom call.”
