DUBAI – In a recent development amidst the ongoing nationwide protests in Iran, the country’s judiciary head has indicated a swift course of action concerning the detainees, despite a stern admonition from U.S. President Donald Trump. The judiciary chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, underscored the urgency of conducting fast trials and executions in a video broadcasted by Iranian state television.

Mohseni-Ejei stressed the immediacy required in dealing with the protesters, stating, “If we want to do a job, we should do it now. If we want to do something, we have to do it quickly.” His remarks suggest an accelerated legal process, aiming to deliver swift consequences to those involved in the unrest.

He elaborated further, emphasizing that any delay would diminish the intended impact, noting, “If it becomes late, two months, three months later, it doesn’t have the same effect. If we want to do something, we have to do that fast.” This insistence on speed highlights the judiciary’s intent to assert control and deter future dissent.

These statements come in the wake of a warning from President Trump, who, in an interview aired by CBS, cautioned Iran against proceeding with such executions. Trump declared, “We will take very strong action. If they do such a thing, we will take very strong action.” His comments reflect a heightened international scrutiny and the potential for increased geopolitical tensions.

His comments stand as a direct challenge to Trump, who warned Iran about executions an interview with CBS aired Tuesday:

“We will take very strong action,” Trump warned. “If they do such a thing, we will take very strong action.”
