At the break of dawn, around 5 a.m., a 42-year-old truck driver was ambushed by two men while heading to his vehicle parked outside his residence on Catees Street in Clyde North.
Surveillance footage captured the moment when the first assailant approached the unsuspecting driver, delivering a powerful punch that sent him to the ground.
As the victim lay helpless, a second attacker joined in, both men viciously continuing to punch and kick him without mercy.
The driver’s sister, Suman, recounted the harrowing ordeal, stating that the audacious attackers “essentially left him for dead” following the brutal assault.
“Blood was everywhere,” Suman recounted, “on the street, inside the house, covering his face.”
She added, “Before leaving, they ensured he was incapacitated, even brutally kicking him in the head.”
“So they were here basically just to kill him.”
Once the offenders fled, the victim managed to pick himself off the ground and stumble to his front door.
His family rushed him to hospital, where he was treated for a fractured skull and a broken nose.
Police still searching for the offenders and the car they drove off in.
At this stage police believe it was a targeted attack.
