GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities apprehended J’maka Pearl Williams, 32, a fugitive from justice, in the early hours today. She faces accusations of assaulting her former boyfriend and inflicting significant damage to his vehicle.

At approximately 11 p.m. on January 17, deputies from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office arrived at a Tower Village apartment complex to find the victim’s car severely damaged. The vehicle had a shattered windshield and window, broken side mirrors, and visible dents. Williams, allegedly under the influence, reportedly ignored repeated instructions to sit down and resisted officers’ attempts to detain her.

The responding officer documented that the victim sustained a facial cut, a neck scratch, and several scratches on his chest. Williams was reportedly found with numerous cuts and abrasions on her hands and feet, injuries likely caused by breaking glass.

Williams faces charges including felony property damage, domestic battery, and resisting arrest without violence. Additionally, she was detained on an outstanding 2022 warrant for probation violation; the Department of Corrections considers her an absconder/fugitive. Her criminal record includes one felony child abuse conviction and three non-violent misdemeanor convictions. Judge Sean Brewer ordered her to remain in custody without bail until the probation violation is addressed. For the new charges, she is held without bail pending a State Attorney’s motion. Should the motion be denied, bail will be determined at a subsequent hearing.

Note: Arrest reports are sourced from law enforcement agencies. The charges mentioned come from arrest records and/or court filings and are solely allegations. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
