The incident occurred Sunday evening around 8:30 p.m. at a residence near Southeast 44th Street and Bryant Avenue in Oklahoma City. Police say 19-year-old William Spencer called 911, admitting to the stabbing of his 25-year-old brother, Nicholas Spencer.
Upon arrival, officers from the Oklahoma City Police Department discovered Nicholas suffering from multiple severe stab wounds. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
“It’s a very tragic situation,” Master Sgt. Gary Knight conveyed during a press briefing. “The two brothers were engaged in playing video games when one became so enraged that it led to this fatal outcome.”
After the incident, William Spencer remained at the scene, where police took him into custody. He was subsequently interviewed and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center.
William Spencer “stayed at the scene,” Knight said. “He was taken into custody, interviewed and then also booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center.”
The suspect admitted to his role in the murder, cops said. He was taken to the Oklahoma County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder on a $10 million bond. His next court date is unclear.
Police said that the killing was one of four homicides that took place in Oklahoma City over the weekend — a number police called “unusual.”
