Man charged with rape, attempted murder of woman on walking track
A man has been charged with three counts of rape and one count of attempted murder after an alleged attack on a woman in Rockhampton, Queensland.

A woman was reportedly attacked and sexually assaulted by a man near a well-known walking path around Yeppen Lagoon on Sunday morning at approximately 10:30 a.m., according to police reports.

The incident was brought to the police’s attention around 11 a.m., and the victim was subsequently transported to a hospital for medical attention.

She is currently receiving care and support from professionals as she recovers.

Following the establishment of a crime scene, authorities reached out to the public for assistance. By 11 a.m. the following day, they had arrested and charged a 27-year-old man from Victoria on Boat Harbour Drive in Hervey Bay.

The suspect was denied bail and is scheduled to appear in court today.

The investigation is ongoing, with police specifically requesting any information or footage related to a dark blue 2008 Toyota two-door hatchback seen in the vicinity of Yeppen Lagoon during the time of the alleged incident.
