GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In a recent legal proceeding, 27-year-old Terra Maeshawn Tillman has been handed a two-month jail sentence following her plea of nolo contendere to charges of sexual cyberstalking.

The case unfolded after Tillman’s arrest in July 2025, prompted by a complaint from the victim to the Gainesville Police Department. The victim reported receiving alarming notifications from friends and family, alerting her that Tillman had used a sexually explicit photograph of her as a Facebook profile picture.

The troubling image, originally taken by a man who had sexually assaulted the victim years prior, had been distributed to several acquaintances, including Tillman. The victim emphasized that Tillman had no authorization to display or disseminate the photo, which reignited feelings of trauma upon seeing it publicly shared on social media. The officer involved noted the sexual assault case had been previously addressed through judicial procedures.

When contacted, Tillman justified her actions by explaining that she was retaliating after the victim allegedly posted a gorilla image altered to include Tillman’s face. Acknowledging her lapse in judgment, Tillman described her actions as “stupid” and confirmed she had removed the photo shortly thereafter.

At the time of the incident, Tillman had no prior criminal record and was released on her own recognizance following her arrest. On January 23, she entered an open plea of nolo contendere, resulting in Judge Jonathan Ramsey sentencing her to two months in jail, with consideration for two days already served. Her sentence commenced the same day she entered her plea.
