In a heartbreaking incident that has shocked the community, the tragic story of Spring Weems, a devoted mother and unwavering Christian, has come to light. The Oklahoma resident’s life was tragically cut short in a harrowing event at her home in Edmond, a suburb just outside Oklahoma City.

Spring Weems, aged 47, was found dead under distressing circumstances at her charming $340,000 residence. The incident unfolded last Wednesday afternoon, leaving a community in mourning and seeking answers.

In a shocking turn of events, her adopted teenage son is currently being held at a juvenile detention center. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) informed the Daily Mail that he is being held on a first-degree murder complaint linked to her death, though formal charges have yet to be filed.

The authorities were alerted to the usually peaceful Cascata Falls neighborhood following a violent altercation involving a weapon between Weems’s two teenagers, both of whom are believed to be her adopted children.

During the intervention by police, one of the teenagers revealed to officers that the other sibling had allegedly killed their mother and placed her remains in a trash bin outside the home. This chilling confession led to an immediate search of the property by sheriff’s deputies.

Upon investigation, the officers discovered Weems’s body, bearing injuries that were deemed ‘suspicious in nature’ and aligned with a homicide. The community now grapples with the loss of a beloved figure, as the investigation continues to unfold.

Weems lived alone with the two teenagers at her home and is understood to be their sole guardian. She was seemingly very involved in her children’s lives.

She boasted about their accomplishments on social media and would frequent their high school wrestling matches, her public Facebook posts revealed.

The family are also believed to have been parishioners at the non-denominational evangelical Life Church.

Weems publicly shared her faith in God on social media.

Just ten days ago, she wrote a review calling out a Christian food pantry for alleged poor treatment of a homeless person.

Describing the incident as ‘absolutely heartbreaking to witness as a Christian’, she told the shop: ‘You will answer to Our Father God in the end of ur life for not only the homeless you shunned & refused to help, but for EVERY SOUL that your actions turned away from Christ bc this was the “example” you left. I’ll pray for you.’

In July 2020, amid a summer of nationwide protests sparked by the killing of George Floyd, Weems penned a Facebook post highlighting God’s goodness.

‘If we all look outside right now God is showing everyone up this 4th!’ she posted, accompanied by a video of a lightning storm.

‘Maybe, just maybe HE is saying children of mine… STOP! Stop your fighting, each and every one of you ARE MY children, red, brown, yellow, black or white EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU ARE PRECIOUS IN MY SIGHT!!!’

Weems shared that as a parent, she taught her children not to fight and to love each other.

‘Our FATHER wants the same for us, so tomorrow let’s reflect on UNITY, as we are ALL brothers and sisters under the same Creator, & HE wants HIS children to live in harmony TOGETHER!’ she added.

Her family seemingly followed her journey in Christianity, with at least one son having been involved with Life Church’s youth ministry program Switch.

In April 2023, she shared how her son had gone to the church’s Color Wars games. The worship-focused event involves teams of youths competing in messy games using powdered or liquid paint.

Weems, sharing a photo of her paint-covered child, wrote: ‘They may come home dirty but they leave with a message of Faith, Community, Accountability, Camaraderie, Leadership & Moral Compass in their/our difficult teen years.’

The Daily Mail has approached Life Church for comment.

Authorities have not released the name or age of the suspected murderer, but did confirm he lived in the home with Weems.

But Logan County Undersheriff Troy Dykes previously told the Daily Mail earlier Thursday that the teenagers involved in the fight were aged 16 and 17.

Dykes noted the investigation is still in the preliminary stages and remains ongoing.

OSBI spokesman Hunter McKee told the Mail that authorities are working with the state to find a safe home for Weems’s other child.

Weems is the sole owner of the $340,000 home where she was killed, according to county property records obtained by the Mail.

Her murder has shocked the small Cascata Falls neighborhood, where locals claim violence is not a common occurrence.

‘It is tragic because it involves our youth,’ one neighbor told KFOR. ‘This is a great neighborhood. Kids are always running around, riding their bikes down the street, and golf carts down the street.’

Weems’s remains have been transported to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy to be carried out.
