Extreme cold warning issued for parts of Central Florida ahead of dangerous cold

In an unusual turn of weather events, residents of Central Florida are bracing for an extreme cold front as various advisories are issued across the region. The National Weather Service has placed an Extreme Cold Warning alongside a Freeze Warning and Wind Advisory, all slated to affect the area over the weekend.

The warnings for freezing temperatures and extreme cold will be active from 7 p.m. on Saturday through 1 p.m. on Sunday. The Wind Advisory is set to begin earlier, starting at 3 p.m. on Saturday and lasting until 7 a.m. the following day.

Extreme cold warning

Forecasts predict northwest winds raging between 20 to 30 mph, with potential gusts reaching up to 40 to 50 mph. The wind chill factor could plummet to a bone-chilling 8 degrees, while hard freeze temperatures are expected to dip to approximately 22 degrees.

Wind Advisory

The severe weather conditions pose multiple risks, including the likelihood of unsecured objects being displaced, tree limbs falling, and sporadic power outages. Furthermore, the hard freeze could threaten crops, damage sensitive plants, and even affect unprotected outdoor plumbing systems.

Residents are advised to stay updated with county-by-county details for more specific cold weather information.
