Elon Musk has addressed the controversy surrounding his emails with the late Jeffrey Epstein, asserting that the messages have been ‘misinterpreted’ and firmly denying ever visiting Epstein’s infamous island.

On Saturday, the billionaire took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to clarify that he had turned down ‘repeated invitations’ from Epstein to travel to the Caribbean or board the notorious ‘Lolita Express’ private jet.

Musk acknowledged the potential for misunderstandings, stating, “I was well aware that some email exchanges with him might be misconstrued and used by critics to tarnish my reputation.”

Despite this, Musk emphasized his primary concern: “I’m not worried about personal attacks, but I am deeply committed to ensuring that we at least try to bring to justice those who engaged in serious crimes alongside Epstein.”

He specifically called for accountability for individuals involved in the “heinous exploitation of underage girls,” urging that they face legal consequences.

Documents from government sources suggested that Musk had corresponded with Epstein regarding a suitable date to attend a gathering on the financier’s private island.

‘What day/night will be the wildest party on =our [sic] island?’ Musk emailed Epstein on November 25, 2012, per Department of Justice documents released on Friday.

Musk also said the latest release of the Epstein files was ‘nothing but a distraction’.

The Tesla leader added that justice would only arrive when arrests are made in connection to the convicted sex offender’s crimes.

‘What matters is not release [sic] of some subset of the Epstein files, but rather the prosecution of those who committed heinous crimes with Epstein,’ Musk wrote on X.

Musk also called for Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s ‘clients’ to be detained.

‘Until we see at least one client arrest, this partial release of Epstein files means nothing,’ he said.

The date of Musk’s email came after Epstein had been convicted of sex crimes against minors in Florida.

Epstein pleaded guilty to procuring a child for prostitution in 2008.

Musk’s cozy relationship with the deceased pedophile was unveiled on Friday as part of the Justice Department’s release of more than three million documents relating to Epstein.

The emails – dated roughly four years after Epstein’s conviction – showed the disgraced pedophile asking Musk ‘how many people will you be for the heli to island.’

Musk responded that it would probably be himself and his then-wife Talulah Riley.

A further email from the multibillionaire to Epstein on Christmas saw Musk inquiring about whether Epstein had any ‘parties planned.’

Musk wrote: ‘I’ve been working to the edge of sanity this year and so, once my kids head home after Christmas, I really want to hit the party scene in St Barts or elsewhere and let loose.’

‘The invitation is much appreciated,’ he added. ‘But a peaceful island experience is the opposite of what I’m looking for.’

Musk emailed Epstein again in the following year, in December 2013, to coordinate a trip to the sordid pedophile’s Caribbean island.

Epstein owned Little St. James Island in the US Virgin Islands.

‘Will be in the BVI/St Bart’s area over the holidays,’ Musk wrote to Epstein. ‘Is there a good time to visit?’

Epstein responded: ‘any day 1st – 8th . play it by ear if you want. always space for you.’

Other emails between the two appeared to show the late financier promising to send a helicopter for the Tesla billionaire.

The pair communicated again on Christmas Day with Epstein writing, ‘the 2 or 3 would be perfect. I will come and get you.’

Musk noted that he would need to travel back to Los Angeles on January 2, 2013, before claiming he could delay his departure.

‘Actually, I could fly back early on the 3rd. We will be in St Bart’s. When should we head to your island on the 2nd?’ Musk wrote to Epstein.

It is not clear whether he ultimately visited Epstein on his island, but the email communications indicate they had a friendly relationship.

Last September, Musk claimed that he had turned down invitations from Epstein to visit his island.

‘Epstein tried to get me to go to his island and I REFUSED,’ he wrote on X.

Musk claimed the same version of events in 2019 when he said that Epstein ‘tried repeatedly to get me to visit his island’ but that he turned down the invitations.

‘Epstein is obviously a creep,’ Musk told Vanity Fair then.

He added: ‘Several years ago, I was at his house in Manhattan for about 30 minutes in the middle of the afternoon with Talulah, as she was curious about meeting this strange person for a novel she was writing.’

Epstein was accused of trafficking and sexually abusing dozens of underage girls as young as 14, according to his July 2019 indictment.

He was found hanging in his New York prison cell on August 10, 2019, while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. The death was ruled a suicide.

Epstein’s co-conspirator Maxwell is the only person serving time in prison related to the dead pedophile’s crimes.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Musk’s companies – SpaceX, Tesla, X and xAI – for comment.
