Authorities are currently unsure whether foul play is involved in her disappearance, though they are not dismissing the possibility.
CATALINA FOOTHILLS, Ariz. — Nancy Guthrie, aged 84 and the mother of “TODAY” show host Savannah Guthrie, has been reported missing from her residence in Catalina Foothills, Arizona, as per the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
Reports indicate that Guthrie was last seen at her home on Saturday night around 9:30 p.m., near the intersection of East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue.
During a press briefing on Sunday night, Sheriff Nanos announced that search and rescue teams are actively looking for Guthrie. Additionally, deputies have reached out to local hospitals, but none have reported any information on her whereabouts.
Sheriff Nanos also mentioned that homicide detectives are currently investigating the scene.
While the possibility of foul play remains uncertain, Nanos stated that the department has not yet eliminated this as a potential factor in her disappearance.
“I don’t need to tell you, this is very concerning to us,” Nanos said. “We don’t typically get the sheriffs out at a scene like this.”
Guthrie is 5’5″ and 150 pounds, and she has brown hair and blue eyes. She has no known mental or cognitive challenges.
It is unknown what she was wearing at the time of her disappearance.
