The oldest child of Norway’s crown princess has been detained just ahead of his trial, where he faces several charges, including rape, causing significant embarrassment to the royal family, as confirmed by the authorities.
Marius Borg Høiby was taken into custody on Sunday evening. According to police reports released on Monday, he faces allegations of assault, brandishing a knife while making threats, and breaching a restraining order.
Authorities have requested that he remain in custody for four weeks, citing concerns that he may commit further offenses.
His trial is set to commence on Tuesday at the Oslo district court.
The extensive indictment lists 38 separate charges. Among these are accusations of rape and domestic abuse against a former partner, violent acts against another individual, and the illegal transportation of 3.5 kilograms of marijuana. Additional charges include issuing death threats and committing traffic violations.
