Authorities have confirmed that a missing Indiana teenager was discovered deceased in Ohio this past Sunday.
Tyler Thomas’s legal representative revealed that he directed the FBI to the remains of Hailey Buzbee located in Perry County. As reported by the Indianapolis Star, Thomas is anticipated to face charges of homicide or murder concerning the 17-year-old’s demise.
According to Columbus, Ohio police, Buzbee’s death occurred at a short-term rental property in Hocking County, as detailed by WTHR.
Thomas, aged 39, is currently facing charges of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and tampering with evidence. These charges are related to illicit images allegedly depicting Buzbee found on Thomas’s mobile device. Authorities have indicated that he attempted to erase these images.
Buzbee was last seen at her residence in Fishers on January 5, with her parents reporting that she left during the night. Fishers police identified Thomas as the individual she departed with. Thomas confessed to picking up Buzbee but claimed he subsequently left her by the roadside in Ohio.
The cause of Buzbee’s death has not yet been disclosed.
Thomas appeared in court on Monday. His bond was set at $1.5 million.
