A man has been arrested after allegedly mimicking firing on people near the pedestrian bridge the Bondi Beach terror attack was launched from.

Authorities launched an investigation following reports concerning two men on the Campbell Parade bridge around 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Eyewitnesses claimed one of the men pretended to shoot at people near the bridge.

The man is accused of verbally confronting bystanders who questioned him, leaving them feeling threatened and unsettled, according to police reports.

Officers spoke with a 24-year-old individual, while the “first man” had already departed the area.

Later, at 4:40 p.m. today, police apprehended a 22-year-old man in Coogee and transported him to Maroubra police station for further investigation.

The incident is reminiscent of a tragic event on December 14, when two gunmen opened fire from the footbridge at the Chanukah by the Sea celebration, resulting in the deaths of fifteen innocent people and injuries to many others.

Naveed Akram was charged with 59 offences and his father, Sajid, was killed by police.
