FBI Nancy Guthrie billboard campaign aims for 'crucial piece of information'

In a determined effort to solve the mystery of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, the FBI has launched a strategic billboard campaign aimed at unearthing the vital information needed to bring her back home safely.

According to an FBI spokesperson in Houston, the initiative is designed to maximize public awareness across several states, with billboards prominently displayed in key locations including Phoenix, Arizona; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and major Texan cities such as El Paso, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston. This extensive reach is part of a concerted push to generate leads in the case.

“Our goal is to cover as much ground as possible with these billboards, hoping that someone holds the key to Nancy’s return,” the spokesperson stated. This significant campaign has been made possible through a partnership with Clear Channel, which generously donated the advertising space.

The case, now stretching into its tenth day as of Tuesday, February 10, involves the disappearance of the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie, a co-host on NBC’s “Today” show. Despite the extensive search, investigators have yet to identify any suspects or persons of interest.

Nancy Guthrie was forcibly taken from her home in the Catalina Foothills area of northern Tucson at approximately 2:30 a.m. on February 1, according to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos. The FBI’s hope is that these billboards, visible to thousands of commuters each day, will spark a memory or lead that could be pivotal in solving the case.

A purported ransom note sent to TMZ last week contained information indicating Nancy Guthrie may not be in Tucson, Ariz., the outlet reported.

TMZ’s Harvey Levin said that information in the ransom note has information stating that Guthrie is somewhere on the West Coast or possibly in northern Mexico.
